We’re excited to announce the launch of the DP Compulsory Team Lvl. 1-4 at Spark Gymnastics Academy! This new program is perfect for athletes ready to commit to a more focused, skill-based path in gymnastics.
Team Tryouts

Details
- Time: 2:00–5:00 PM
- Age Requirement: Must be at least 5 years old by June 30, 2025
- Tryout Fee: $40
- Registration: Members can register on Parent Portal > Events
Please note: This is a non-viewing event to help athletes stay relaxed and focused.
An FAQ will be emailed to all registered participants one week before tryouts.

Program Expectations
Our DP Compulsory Program is designed to foster discipline, skill mastery, and long-term athlete development.
- Year-Round Commitment: Gymnasts may take up to 3 weeks of vacation annually (plus gym closings).
- Attendance is mandatory for all scheduled practices.
- Fall 2025: No competition season—athletes will train intensively to build technical, physical, and mental readiness.
- Spring 2026: Select invitational meet participation begins.
- Fall 2026: Launch of full competitive season.
- Athletes from other gyms must meet Spark standards—75% skill proficiency required for team placement.

We’re actively building the future of team gymnastics at Spark:
- Level 5 & Optional Programs: Targeting a summer launch (pending coaching additions)
- Xcel Program: Under consideration—will follow after successful implementation of DP Compulsory Team
What is Pre-Team?
Pre-Team is a bridge between recreational classes and the competitive team. Athletes learn:
- Basic compulsory routines
- Strength and flexibility training
- Foundational skills to prepare for Level 2 placement
What is DP Compulsory Team
The DP Compulsory Program is part of USA Gymnastics' Women's Development Program (formerly known as the Junior Olympic Program). It emphasizes foundational technique through standardized routines.
Breakdown:
- Levels 1–3: Focus on basic skill development
- Levels 4–5: Standardized routines across all events
- Levels 6–10 (Optional): Personalized routines and advanced development
What is Xcel?
The Xcel Program is a competitive USA Gymnastics program designed to offer gymnasts of all skill levels a flexible yet committed competitive experience.
- Levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond
- Offers variety in skill requirements and routine options
- Requires full team commitment, including meet fees, choreography, music, uniforms, and more
